Rolling Hills Wind, LLC (a subsidiary of Terra-Gen, LLC) is planning to develop the Rolling Hills Wind Project – a 250-megawatt project covering a 130 square mile area in the hills surrounding the Monastery. Leases have already been signed covering 17,169 acres in Jordanville and neighboring towns.
Two 5-megawatt wind turbines, each over half the height of the Empire State Building, have been proposed on rural property in the towns of Stark and Springfield. As of 9/16/24, New Leaf Energy has withdrawn their permit application to the Town Board for construction of a two giant turbines that were to be located on Sickler Road in the Town of Stark. However, there is a threat by Terra Gen company of hundreds wind turbines and acres of solar panels fields in the area. This would impact all surrounding communities (Springfield, Jordanville, Van Hornesville, Warren, Richfield Springs, German Flats). Thanks to all supporters for this victory!
